Commemorating National/World Disaster Day.

To commemorate the October 08, 2005 earthquake and create awareness amongst the general public, the government of Pakistan has declared 8th October as National Disaster Awareness Day to sensitize the community to learn from disasters and play its role as socially responsible citizens. Each year the day is observed to express solidarity with the bereaved families who lost their family members and to arouse the spirit of individual and group enrichment to face the challenges in the post disaster scenario.

To express solidarity with victims of the disasters in Pakistan, HUJRA in collaboration with the Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM), University of Peshawar, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) jointly observed the National Disaster Awareness Day and International DRR day at the University of Peshawar on October 16, 2017. Assigning high priority to the campaign, special representative of academic Institutions, Government Departments, United Nations, INGOs and Local CSOs participated in the event.
