Five days CBDRM Training for VDMCs in Bajaur and Mohmand Agency

 

Pakistan (FATA/KP) is vulnerable to a number of multiple hazards owing to its geological settings, vulnerable ecosystems, variable climatic conditions and increasing exposure. Every year recurrent hazards cause extensive damages to infrastructures, lives and properties.

HUJRA organization with the financial support of UNWFP/SDC and FATA Secretariat has successfully conducted Five Days “Community Based Disaster Risk Management Training Program for Village Disaster Management committees at Bajaur & Mohmand Agency”. The main objective of the training was

  • The basic aim of this training was to produce skillful people at local level, these potential people will play active role in emergency and response
  • Sensitization of the community about associated hazards and disasters, non-structure mitigation measures for accompanying hazards and risks.
  • To formulate different teams like safe evacuation, search and rescue, Medical first aid and early warning and assign role and responsibilities in case of emergency.

  • Basic terminologies of DRM
  • Disaster management and mitigation measures
  • Hazard, resource and facility mapping and seasonal calendar
  • Roles, responsibilities and structure of CBDRM committees
  • Different sessions on First Aid like DRABC, Bleeding control, recovery position, different measures how to control bleeding and how to cover injuries, search and rescue, fire it causes and practical exercise to control fire
  • Preparedness plan for disaster risk reduction
